Become an Immersion Coordinator

Applications are due Wednesday, April 18th at 3:00pm.

Thank you for your interest in becoming an Immersion Coordinator. This is an exciting position and one that is quite unique to students. The position allows you to develop your leadership skills, to assist in the planning and organization of a Spring Break Immersion, and most importantly, to facilitate an unforgettable immersion experience for students.

Only students who have participated in an immersion during their time at Santa Clara are eligible to apply. If you have questions regarding this, or would like to get further clarification based on our individual experience, please email Mike Nuttall at mnuttall@scu.edu

In this position, immersion coordinators:

  • Attend weekly preparation meetings beginning week 2 of the Fall Quarter and continuing for the duration of the academic year.
  • Participate in a mandatory weekend retreat in San Francisco, September 28-30, 2012.
  • Promote Spring Break Immersions at SCU.
  • Participate in trip selection, approximately 5-7 hours of time for two weeks in the Fall (December New Orleans only) or Winter Quarter (All Spring Break trips).
  • Facilitate 5 preparation meetings with your immersion group.
  • Lead a group of students on a Spring Break Immersion.
  • Facilitate 3 group meetings upon return from your immersion.
  • Average of 2-3 hour per week of other miscellaneous responsibilities during the Fall and Spring Quarters. Average of 4-5 hours per week of other responsibilities during the Winter Quarter (December New Orleans only: Extra 2-3 hours occurs in the Fall Quarter).
  • Receive a $500 stipend.

If you enjoyed a previous immersion and found it a meaningful part of your college experience, you may be an excellent candidate for this position.
