William C. Spohn Memorial Fund

undefinedContributions to this memorial will be used to fund one annual student fellowship. This choice was made in consultation with Spohn family members to honor the memory of William C. Spohn, Director of the Bannan Center, who died August 3, 2005. It was done recognizing the passion and commitment that Bill Spohn had for developing leaders for religion and public life who are committed to competence, conscience, and compassion. He recognized that such leaders did not just happen. They needed to be nurtured. This internship is one step in that direction.

About the William C. Spohn Student Fellowship for the Study of Religion and Public Life

The student fellowship can be used to fund a student’s involvement in a variety of ministries, ranging from parishes to national faith-based organizations. The fellowship may also be used to fund attendance at seminars or other educational opportunities which further a student’s knowledge in the area of theology or ministry. The student is expected to use this paid fellowship to broaden his or her understanding of possible career choices and to test his or her interest in professional ministry. The Ignatian Center provides resources and guidance for the student to design a fellowship that enables him or her to make wise decisions about his or her life after graduation. The fellowship is not intended to fund student travel or study abroad.

Applications for the 2008-09 academic year are due October 21, 2008.
