Institutional Research

The Office of Institutional Research provides objective, systematic, and thorough research and analysis in support of the institution's strategic and operational planning, policy formation, and decision-making.
Areas of Responsibility
  • Providing accurate and timely information and analyses useful to policy- and decision-makers
  • Collecting, disseminating, analyzing, and promoting the use of information for University planning, decision-making, and assessment at all levels
  • Encouraging the use of the products and resources of Institutional Research by maintaining a service orientation toward the University community and public at large
  • Supporting other units in conducting program evaluations, outcome studies, and other projects designed to improve the quality of services and programs
  • Ethical Responsibility
    • Institutional Research at Santa Clara is committed to serving as educators and role models on the ethical use of data to benefit both students and the institution.
    • Ethical reasoning and ethical decision-making are hallmarks of a Santa Clara education, skills that enact the Jesuit values of "promoting an ethical engagement with the world".

Common Data Set (CDS) 

The CDS initiative is a collaborative effort among data providers in the higher education community and publishers as represented by the College Board, Peterson's, and U.S. News & World Report. The Office of Institutional Research provides a CDS Visualization and CDS Visualization (coming soon).  

Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS)

IPEDS is a system of related surveys that reports institutional demographics, institutional resources, student demographics, student financial aid, and student retention and graduation rates. SCU's IPEDS data.
