Fr. Pham was born in Viet Nam and immigrated to the United States at the beginning of his high school years.  After having graduated from Regis University with a degree in Math, Chemistry, and Biology, he entered the Society of Jesus.  Fr. Pham finished his first studies with a master degree in philosophy at St. Louis University.  Afterward, he spent a year teaching Chemistry and Biology at St. Louis University High School.  After SLUH, Fr. Pham worked for JRS - Asia Pacific (Jesuit Refugee Service) training math and science teachers in the Burmese refugee camp in Northern Thailand.  After JRS, he attended JSTB (Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley) for a year before going back to his province for more formational work.  Fr. Pham did a year of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.  Then, he attended Weston School of Theology (WST) where he was ordained and completed his S.T.L. in interreligious dialogue under the mentorship of Dr. Peter Phan (Georgetown U.) studying the Catholic and theological themes in Hàn Mặc Tử’s poetry.  After WST, Fr. Pham returned to his alma mater (Regis University) teaching Ignatian Spirituality and leading the retreat program in Campus Ministry.  And after a year and a half teaching there, he went to Spain to study Ignatian Spirituality at Comillas Pontificia Universidad de Madrid and completed his doctorate in December 2011 studying Ignatian Inculturation: Spirituality of Mission of the First Jesuits in Asia exemplified by Alexandre de Rhodes (1593 – 1660) and his Catechismus in Vietnam.
