El Instituto Hispano es un programa intensivo de verano enfocado en teología cristiana, que sigue la tradición Jesuita de excelencia académica y fidelidad a la Iglesia Romana Católica. El Instituto Hispano pertenece al Jesuit School of Theology (JST) de la Universidad de Santa Clara, y se lleva a cabo en el campus de JST en Berkeley, CA.
El Instituto Hispano tiene como objetivo formar a agentes de pastoral en educación teológica. Está dirigido a personas de habla hispana que desempeñan ministerios pastorales en las comunidades latinas de la Iglesia; quienes hayan completado cursos básicos de catequesis y que deseen una formación académica en espiritualidad y teología. El Instituto sirve también a los diáconos y religiosos como educación continua en estudios teológicos. Las clases incluyen temas de teología sobre Sagradas Escrituras, liturgia, Sacramentos, historia de la Iglesia, teología moral, enculturación y asuntos ministeriales y pastorales. Las clases se dan en español.
Fundado por el Padre Allan Deck, S.J. en 1988, el Instituto ha formado gran cantidad de líderes pastorales hispanos a nivel parroquial y de diócesis. También ha motivado a varios participantes a completar carreras universitarias y programas de port-grado.
Al final de cada verano, los participantes del Instituto reciben un certificado de cumplimiento y registro de las horas de clase completadas. Este registro puede ser utilizado para obtener créditos de extensión en community colleges. Los estudiantes del Instituto deben confirmar directamente con asesor del community college cuántos créditos de educación continua pueden recibir por completar un verano en el Instituto Hispano.

Hispanic Institute 2013: July 14th to July 26th

The Hispanic Institute is an intensive summer program focused on Christian theology, which follows the Jesuit tradition of academic excellence and fidelity to the Roman Catholic Church. The Hispanic Institute is a program of the Jesuit School of Theology (JST) of Santa Clara University, and is held in the JST campus in Berkeley, CA.
The Hispanic Institute aims to train pastoral leaders in theological education. It is aimed at Spanish-speaking people who serve as pastoral ministers in the Latino communities of the Church; who have completed basic courses in catechesis and desire an academic background in spirituality and theology. The Institute also serves deacons and religious to further their theological studies. Classes include topics of theology on Scripture, liturgy, sacraments, church history, moral theology, inculturation and ministerial and pastoral areas of interest. Classes are taught in Spanish.
Founded by Father Allan Deck, S.J. in 1988, the Institute has trained hundreds of Hispanic pastoral leaders at parish and diocesan levels. It has also motivated many participants to complete university courses and graduate degree programs.
At the end of each summer Instituto participants who complete the program receive a certificate of successful achievement and a transcript of course hours completed. The latter may be used to earn extension credit in community colleges. Instituto students should confirm directly with their community college guidance counselors how many continuing education credits might be earned through the Instituto program.
