Places to Study
The Manresa Lounge has comfortable couches and is located to the right of the JST Lobby.
Next to the Manresa Lounge, the Compañía Lounge has round tables for convenient study. There is almost always a gaggle of students working here during the day.
The Montserrat Lounge is in the basement of the JST building. It has several computers, a printer, and couches for student use. It is also where the student mailboxes and the events bulletin board is located.
The Courtyard behind the school is a perfect place to spend sunny afternoons reading.
The GTU Library is located just a few blocks from JST at 2400 Ridge Road. In addition to an abundance of theological resources, it has personal cubicles, tables, and group study rooms available.
Cal’s Doe Memorial Library is centrally located on UC Berkeley’s campus, about a 10 minute walk from JST. JST students can get a Library card free of charge, and have access to the top public research university library in the country, with over 10 million volumes. There are several other discipline-specific libraries throughout Cal’s campus that are also good places to study. Chairs, sofas, and reading rooms are located throughout Cal's libraries.
There are a number of coffee shops on Euclid Avenue, just two blocks from JST, and in downtown Berkeley off Shattuck Ave, a twenty minute walk away, which make great places to study or spend time.
The Pacific School of Religion (PSR), just a few blocks from JST, has a beautiful grassy Quad Area which is perfect for studying on sunny days. It is located on Scenic Ave.
