JST students are eligible for medical benefits through the health insurance plan offered to graduate students at Santa Clara University. Coverage is through Aetna.
Under the Affordable Care Act, individuals must now carry health insurance meeting the minimum essential coverage requirements as defined by the federal government. To ensure that students meet the individual mandate, beginning Fall 2014, all new and continuing students taking two or more classes are required to provide proof of medical health insurance through a mandatory annual online process termed "Hard-Waiver Mandatory." The online waiver link will be available for new and current students of JST-SCU at the start of the Spring 2015 semester. Please visit our site for more information closer to this time!
All graduate students taking two or more classes must either enroll in the University-sponsored insurance plan or show proof of their own health insurance plan by completing the online waiver form by the February 4, 2015 deadline date. If students do not submit an acceptable waiver, then they must be enrolled into the 2014 / 2015 Aetna insurance plan and their individual student accounts will be charged $1,528.00 for the Spring 2015 insurance policy.
