About Deborah Ross

Deborah Ross received her B.A. in theology, religious studies, and English from St. Mary's College, Twickenham, University of Surrey, and her M.Th. in Pastoral Theology and Ph.D. in Theology from Heythrop College, the Jesuit College of the University of London. Her Ph.D. focused upon the spiritual transformation of adults who had participated in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) faith-formation process.

Deborah has worked in various UK pastoral ministry roles, including parish, university, and sixth-form college ministry. She has also particulated in academic research projects exploring evangelization and mission in the Catholic Church. Deborah helped to establish a Heythrop College-based project involving diverse church groups and non-profit agencies in London and the UK. The project facilitated theological reflection upon pastoral practice, empowering individuals in faith-based organizations to become more skilled practitioners. Deborah has previously taught theology and religious studies as an adjunct professor at the Santa Clara University (SCU) Religious Studies Department, the SCU Graduate Program in Pastoral Ministries, and the St. Ignatius Institute at the University of San Francisco. Her academic interests include catechesis, Christian initiation, pastoral and practical theology, theological anthropology, and theological themes within film and literature. Deborah is passionate about pastoral ministry and theological reflection, and is continuing her research and writing on the RCIA process. As part of her role at JST, Deborah helps M.Div. students to integrate their academic studies, ministerial experience, and spirituality.
