Santa Clara University

As of July 1, 2009, the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley has become integrated as a school of Santa Clara University. Under the new arrangement, JST remains in Berkeley and is known as the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University. Degrees granted by JST bear that name.

With the integration of JST into the university, JST students have access to the breadth of Santa Clara's resources in religious studies and other disciplines, and SCU faculty benefit from a relationship with theologians at JST. The new collaboration between the two Bay Area institutions enables each to draw upon the academic and theological strengths of the other. This partnership solidifies and fortifies SCU and JST in their shared goal of engaging in global theological study, contextual education, and justice-oriented ministry.

The Society of Jesus, The Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley, and Santa Clara University share a rich tradition of fostering a strong and growing environment for theological study. By bringing those traditions together, this partnership will ensure a strong future for the education of tomorrow’s Jesuits, religious women and Catholic lay ministers.

Graduate Program in Pastoral Ministries
The Graduate Program in Pastoral Ministries offers a Master of Arts degree with five emphases: Catechetics, Catholic Education, Liturgical Music, Pastoral Liturgy, and Spirituality.

Religious Studies Department
The Religious Studies Department offers students the opportunity to study religion using a variety of methodologies and provides a cross-cultural, inter-disciplinary, and comparative investigation into a variety of religious beliefs and practices.

Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education
Brought about by the merger of the Bannan Center for Jesuit Education and the Pedro Arrupe Center for Community Based Learning in 2005, the Ignatian Center is dedicated to preserving and extending the unique mission and identity of Santa Clara University.
