Explore the Spiritual Element of the Initiative

Fostering spiritual growth is central to the Woman of Wisdom and Action Initiative. Parallel to the academic program, the Initiative, as part of the Jesuit School of Theology, offers spiritual accompaniment, faith sharing, and networking with other students who are religious sisters and brothers, lay people and candidates for the priesthood. In addition to opportunities to make personal retreats, sisters will have the possibility of optional summer training to become retreat leaders and spiritual directors.

The inter-congregational community, a "home-away-from-home," will be the base for the spiritual and liturgical rhythm the sisters choose to create, enriched by common life and mutual support. Other U.S. American women congregations will offer an extension of this "home" for the student sister for spiritual recharging, retreat work and faith sharing.

As an integral and additional part of the Spiritual component, the sisters of the Women of Wisdom and Action Initiative will be able reach out into local communities in the Bay Area, with whom they share a language or cultural background. This will offer the student-sisters a variety of possibilities for ministerial training according to their own experience, talents and congregational need as well as build bridges between the U.S. and their home communities.
