The academic element of the Women of Wisdom and Action program allows each woman to select a degree program to complete at the Jesuit School of Theology (JST). Some of the degree programs are first theological degrees and others require previous studies in theology. The sisters in the Women of Wisdom and Action initiative will work closely with the Initiative’s Coordinator to create a focus around the specific needs and mission of the sister’s community, while also incorporating the student’s own talents and areas of interest.
Participants will not only receive excellent theological training by a renowned faculty that is committed to the cultural context of every student, but will also have access to the unique, interdisciplinary framework which neighboring University of California, Berkeley and Santa Clara University provide, so that each Woman of Wisdom and Action, with the support of the Initiative’s Coordinator, the faculty and the wider community will be able to prepare for the future responsibilities, which await her back in her country and community.
