Bannan Hall Plans
August 22, 2008 at 9:07 AM
Dear Law School Community:
In early June, I notified you about law school plans for the law school's use of Bannan Hall, following the completion of the new Library and Learning Commons and Leavey Business School buildings. Subsequent to that letter, the construction in Bannan Hall was delayed due to the sheer volume of other moves and construction work associated with the opening of those buildings. Construction being what it is, here follows my current understanding of the timetable for Bannan Hall.
1st floor - Law Technology and Academic Computing, including a new Help Desk, has relocated to Bannan 110. The expansion of the student lounge is delayed, but remains on the plans, probably to be completed next summer.
2nd floor - Construction likely delayed until next summer. For this academic year, the School of Education, Counseling Psychology, and Pastoral Ministries (ECCPM) is located on this floor, along with classrooms used by ECPPM and the law school. In the future, the following groups will likely relocate to this floor: Law Records, Alumni and Development, Career Services, APD/ASP, Special Projects, Fiscal Operations, Web Developer, Student Organizations.
3rd floor - The classrooms 331, 332, 333 and 334 are now primarily assigned to the law school, with some evening use by ECPPM. As has been announced, new furniture and classroom technology will arrive soon, to replace the temporary furniture now in place. The rest of the floor is vacant, with construction for law school uses expected to take place during fall semester. Once the renovation is complete, the floor will be occupied by the Centers and Institutes and some faculty, including all our LARAW faculty members.
While the schedule may be a little slower than anticipated, the news remains terrific for the law school community, as it represents an important step in the ultimate resolution of the law school's longstanding space needs. All of us appreciate your patience as we plan for, and soon expect to implement, these program, office and classroom moves. We will keep you posted on developments concerning our move to Bannan Hall.
