Violence Prevention Databases
October 31, 2007 at 10:04 AM
Thanks to Ron Jones for a posting on today’s Law Librarian Blog about four databases from the University of Colorado’s Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence:
- VioLit contains bibliographic information about journal articles, books, and reports on the topic of violence.
- VioPro lists violence prevention and treatment programs.
- VioSource includes resources: curricula, videos, etc.
- VioEval is a compilation of data collection tools on violence-related topics.
The VioLit search template is an example of the templates provided for all four databases, allowing simple and multifield searches. There is also a keyword list for each database, with each keyword linked to bibliographic information about materials on that topic. The keyword list for VioLit includes topics ranging from abduction causes to youth development. Bibliographic records in VioLit are also available in a chronological arrangement, by decade.
The CSPV website also links to websites of state and national organizations working on aspects of violence prevention.
