Get your passports now!

If you are thinking about travel abroad this summer or fall and you don’t have a passport current through the end of this year, apply immediately. The new rules requiring passports for travel to Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean have resulted in the U.S. Passport Office being flooded with applications. Long delays have been reported, and it probably will get worse before it gets better. Even emergency, "overnight" processing (for which you pay a special fee), is said to be taking over a week. All of the emergency processing forces "regular" applications to the back of the line.
