Article Submissions

I. Submissions

The Santa Clara Law Review strongly prefers to receive submissions of article manuscripts by direct e-mail or through the ExpressO submission system, which can be found online at http://www.law.bepress.com/expresso.  Direct e-mail submissions should be sent to lawreview@scu.edu.

II. Selection

The Santa Clara Law Review invites the submission of article manuscripts of legal merit.  Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis.  Unfortunately, we are unable to contact authors regarding pieces we cannot publish.  The articles team will generally complete review of submissions within a few weeks of receipt, and contact the author immediately to communicate acceptance.

All submissions are considered, but preference is given to articles of fewer than 50 pages in length (including footnotes).  Inclusion of a brief abstract of your submission with the text is encouraged. 

III. Editing

It is the policy of the Santa Clara Law Review to conduct minimal substantive editing of articles.  As such, the submissions should be ready for publication with virtually no additional substantive editing. 

The Santa Clara Law Review generally conforms to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (18th ed. 2005) and the Dictionary of Legal Abbreviations Used in American Law Books (Compiled by Doris M. Bieber 1979).

IV. Expedited Review

If you receive a formal offer from another journal and wish to request expedited review, please contact us by e-mail at lawreview@scu.edu.  Please include your name and the title of your manuscript, as well as the date that the offer expires.

V. Withdrawal

If you wish to withdraw your article from consideration, send an e-mail to lawreview@scu.edu.  Please include "withdrawal" in the subject line of the e-mail and your name and the title of your manuscript in the text.
