Student Bar Association
All students enrolled in the School of Law are members of the Student Bar Association (SBA) and are entitled to participate in its functions and activities. The SBA allocates funds to various law student organizations, and sponsors events of its own throughout the school year.
ACLU at SCU Law
This student chapter is dedicated to promoting awareness and interest in the protection and advancement of civil liberties both within the Santa Clara University School of Law and in the surrounding communities.
The Advocate - School of Law Student Newspaper
The Advocate is the student newspaper of Santa Clara University School of Law, and is staffed entirely by SCU law students. Since 1970, The Advocate has served the law school community by publishing feature articles about issues relevant to the law school, as well as other legal stories of interest.
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Society
The Alternative Dispute Resolution Society provides its members with creative leadership in the dispute resolution field by fostering diversity, developing and offering competition opportunities that promote problem-solving and, presenting speakers who epitomize excellence in the provision of dispute resolution services.
American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS)
The American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS) is one of the nation's leading progressive legal organizations. Founded in 2001, ACS is a rapidly growing network of lawyers, law students, scholars, judges, policymakers and other concerned individuals. Our mission is to ensure that fundamental principles of human dignity, individual rights and liberties, genuine equality, and access to justice enjoy their rightful, central place in American law.
Amnesty International
Amnesty International is an independent, worldwide movement working impartially for the release of prisoners of conscience – those people detain because of their beliefs, race, sex, ethnic origin, language or religion.
Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA)
APALSA sponsors activities to increase awareness of issues facing Asian American and Pacific Islanders. The group provides moral and academic support to their members and maintains ties with the Asian legal community.
Bisexual, Gay and Lesbian Advocates (BGLAd)
BGLAd is an educational and support organization that provides educational and career resources, networking opportunities, and a social support system. The group also works to increase awareness of the concerns of bisexuals, gays, and lesbians within the law school.
Black Law Students Association (BLSA)
BLSA promotes the general welfare of Black law students through its many activities. It also promotes awareness of issues important to the African American community and maintains strong ties to the Black legal community.
Christian Legal Society (CLS)
The purpose of this organization is to bring together students, faculty, and other members of the law school community to encourage Christian fellowship, bible study, and prayer. The group encourages members to pursue ways in which to live out their faith in the study and practice of law.
Criminal Law Society
The Criminal Law Society seeks to provide unique perspectives on current issues through speakers and field trips. Additionally, the Criminal Law Society assists students interested in pursuing career paths within criminal law.
Entertainment and Sports Law Society (ESLA)
This club helps law students to understand the dynamics of the sports and entertainment industries and plans activities to create pathways into those industries. They help establish contacts among students, alumni, and other industry professionals.
Environmental Law Society (ELS)
The Environmental Law Society is dedicated to environmental legal issues. It promotes environmental awareness on the Santa Clara campus and surrounding community. The organization also promotes and encourages employment and careers in environmental law.
Federalist Society
The Society is a conservative organization organized with the purpose of fostering critical thought and debate about the application of conservative principles to the law.
Health Care Law Society
The HCL society will serve as the nexus for students interested in health law and/or the certificate to discuss a broad range of health law topics, attend career panels with local professionals, and participate in community outreach events.
HOOPS - Law School Basketball League
a league of basketball teams that compete once a week throughout the semester in friendly competition. The league is open to law students, faculty, alumni and staff.
Intellectual Property Association (IPA)
IPA supports the continued development of an active and meaningful intellectual property curriculum. It seeks to supplement course offerings by sponsoring programs and activities that contribute to the development of legal knowledge and skills in the field of intellectual property.
International Law Students Association (ILSA)
ILSA fosters interest in, and understanding of, international law by sponsoring speakers and events which explore aspects of international law and international organizations. The group collaborates with ISLA International and its member chapters to develop greater exchange with colleagues abroad.
Jewish Law Student Association (JLSA)
JLSA provides a Jewish community for Santa Clara law students. Observance of holidays and outreach to new students are two main goals.
Journal of International Law
Founded in 2002, the Santa Clara Journal of International Law (SCJIL) redefined legal journalism by publishing an easily accessible, entirely web-based international law journal composed of rigorous, accessible, and intellectually stimulating material.
Labor and Employment Law Society
Devoted to informing the legal community about the field of employment law.
Law Review
The Santa Clara Law Review is a legal periodical edited by the students of Santa Clara University School of Law. It is the only legal periodical officially sponsored by the Santa Clara University Law School Administration.
La Raza Law Students Association
La Raza’s primary purpose is to increase the representation of Latinos and Native Americans in the legal profession. The group actively recruits minority students and offers programs geared toward their successful completion of law school.

Middle Eastern Law Students Association
The Middle Eastern Law Student Association (MELSA) at Santa Clara University, School of Lawis committed to promoting cultural awareness within the legal community and fostering professional development for Middle Eastern law students.
Part Time Law Student Association
PTLSA is dedicated to supporting the Part Time law students through educational, career, and social events. The PTLSA advocates for activities and services to be more accessible to the particular needs of the Part Time Students through alternative scheduling and exploring new ways to offer programs to law students.
Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity
The purpose of this fraternity is to form a strong bond uniting students and teachers of the law with members of the Bench and Bar in fellowship. The group’s goal is to stimulate excellence in scholarship; to inspire the virtues of compassion and courage, to foster integrity and professional competence; and to encourage moral, cultural, and intellectual advancement.
Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity
This international legal fraternity promotes ethics and professionalism in law school and the legal profession.
Public Interest & Social Justice Coalition (PISJC)
The Coalition focus is to raise awareness of public interest issues and to raise funds for the Santa Clara Public Interest Endowment. The group sponsors speakers and other programs and acts as a support and information network. They carry out numerous fund raising activities including the Benefit for Justice auction, Pledge Week, Ex Parte Talent Show.
Real Estate Law Society
The Real Estate Law Society is dedicated to educating its members about current legal practices and issues in the area of real estate law. We provide opportunities for our members to satisfy their curiosity and cultivate their knowledge of the various real estate practice areas.
South Asian Law Students Association (SALSA)
S.A.L.S.A.'s mission is to connect the South Asian Law community through networking and social events. Membership is open to all!
Student Animal Legal Defense Fund
The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund (SALDF) is a new club on campus seeking to raise the profile of the field of animal law and educate students and the community on the cruelty that animals face everyday, from the evils of factory farming to criminal animal abuse that goes unprosecuted.
Tax and Estate Planning Society
The mission of the Tax & Estate Planning Society ("Society") is to promote and encourage the study of taxation and estate planning law. In addition, the Society is focused on developing strong relationships with the academic, business and legal tax and estate planning community. The Society serves as a forum for law students, faculty, legal scholars, practitioners and leaders in taxation, tax policy and estate planning to engage in an interdisciplinary discussion of developing issues in tax and estate planning law.
Women and Law
This organization is committed to addressing issues of concern and interest to members of the entire legal community. The organization strives to provide academic and personal support for law students and increase the community’s awareness of legal, political, and social issues, emphasizing women’s perspectives.
Write Research Institute for Timed Essays
WRITE was founded by Santa Clara University law students. Our mission is to help students and graduates prepare for timed essays. WRITE also supports and makes available research on writing timed essays.
