Your search for articles is only as good as your search statement. You will want to use "Boolean" search operators AND or OR to combine terms and use the "*" asterisk and "()" parenthesizes to construct your search statements, e.g. note that search terms are not case sensitive and you do not need to use capitalization:

global warming AND climate chang* (picks us "change, changes, changing, etc.)
working poor AND (california OR oregon)
single payer AND health care
digital divide and govern* and (polic* or solution*)
