Data and Property Compilations

  • BRENDA: The Comprehensive Enzyme Information System
     BRENDA is a comprehensive database of enzymes maintained by the Institute of Biochemistry at the University of Cologne. Scientists collect and evaluate enzyme function data from primary literature sources. The site has recently been updated with new enzymes and an entirely new search engine. Various searches can be performed, including enzyme name, organism, EC number, CAS registry number. Links to literature citations, two dimensional images, and other databases are included for many of the enzymes.

  • ChemFinder
    Chemical compounds database that links to data sites (such as hazard information, physical properties, spectra) on the Web. Collection of over 3,800 compounds searchable by name, name fragment, molecular formula, molecular weight, or CAS Registry Number. Property data included for each compound, as well as links to web sites with additional information about the compound (such as MSDS, for example). By downloading the appropriate software from this site, the 2D and 3D molecules are displayable.

  • Hazardous Chemical Database - Univ Akron
    Searchable by chemical name, formula, CAS registry number, this database gives chemical hazard information for over 1300 chemicals. The data has been compiled from several publicly available sources.

  • NIST Ceramics WebBook
    National Institute of Standards and Technology web site of evaluated data on ceramics and superconducting materials. Includes the NIST Superconducting Materials Database, the NIST Structural Ceramics Database, and a collection of Property Data Summaries

  • NIST Chemistry WebBook
    Data on 1000's of organic and inorganic compounds and reactions, including thermochemical and thermochemical data, IR, mass, UV, visible, electronic, vibrational spectra, physical constants. Search by name, formula, CAS registry number, molecular weight.

  • NIST Physical Reference Data
    National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) site maintained by the Physics Laboratory operating unit. Searchable resource containing physical constants, spectroscopy data, and other data.

  • Organic Syntheses
    Organic Synthesis presents to the organic chemistry community detailed experimental methods in a standard format for the synthesis of organic compounds. Chem Draw Plugin required.

  • Protein Data Bank
    A repository of 3-dimensional structures of biological macromolecules derived from x-ray crystallography and NMR experiements. To view structures you need: a java enabled web browser, a VRML browser, and the RasMol molecular display program.

  • SOLV-DB
    Data for commercially available solvents: Chemical-physical, Regulatory, Environmental fate, Health & Safety

  • ThermoDex
    An index of selected thermodynamic data handbook. Created and maintained at the University of Texas at Austin. Contains records for print data handbooks and compilations. Select compound type and link to property terms. ThermoDex will give you a list of printed handbooks that may contain the desired data. Many of the sources indexed are found in the Orradre Library's reference collection, but please note that the call numbers listed are those from the University of Texas Chemistry Library, so check OSCAR for accurate locations. Note: Large data compilations (such as Beilstein, Landolt- Börnstein), online datafiles, and the standard one-volume handbooks (such as the CRC) are not indexed in ThermoDex, and should be checked separately.

Dictionaries

    Dictionary covering the engineering sciences, life sciences, physical sciences, mathematics and computer science. Online version lacks illustrations available in the print version.

    The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry(IUPAC) presents an extensive collection of chemical nomenclature information.

    The European Patent Office's extensive list of patent resources with links to individual countries' patent offices, databases, patent providers, and other useful international patent information.

  • US Patent and Trademark Office
    General web site for the USPTO. Contains information on patenting an idea, doing a patent search and locating the nearest patent depository library for hard copies.

  • USPTO Web Patent Databases
    1790-present. United States Patent and Trademark Office produced database of U.S. patents. Full-text available for each patent.

  • World Intellectual Property Organization PCT Database
    Search or browse World Patent bibliographic data, abstract & drawing of published PCT applications. Abstracts in English, with full patent image in the language of the inventor's country. Click VIEW IMAGES button to see page 1, NEXT button for page 2...
