SCU Emergency Drill: Oct. 18

Santa Clara University is one of many schools and businesses across the state participating in the Great California ShakeOut Earthquake Drill on Thursday, October 18th. As part of the drill, we are testing our SCU Emergency Notification System. In a real emergency, you would find information on scu.edu about the emergency and what the current status is on the SCU campus.

As part of the ShakeOut,  a text message will be sent Thursday at 10:18 a.m. to all who have registered for the SCU Campus Alert system. The message will clearly state this is a test but will encourage everyone to take a minute and DROP, COVER and HOLD, simulating what they would do if an actual earthquake were happening at that moment.  Those unable to participate are instructed to evaluate their surroundings and how they would react if this had been an actual earthquake.

In addition to the the drill, SCU is also testing a new Building Evacuation Lead program. The Adobe Lodge, Kenna Hall and Donahoe Alumni Building will all be evacuated in drills that end Friday, October 19.

Please take time to register or update your information for SCU Campus Alert today. The system is our primary means for sending an urgent mass notification message in an emergency. You can register up to four phone numbers and two email addresses in it. The alert system is only as good as the information you provide, so please verify your information is current. You can enroll directly via e-Campus. Additional information about SCU Campus Alert.
