Mazatlán Forum: Platform for Cross-Border Collaboration

Santa Clara University is jointly sponsoring an academic forum in Mazatlán, Mexico, with El Colegio de Sinaloa March 27 to 29, 2014.

Intended to build collaboration between the United States and Mexico, the Mazatlán Forum considers the social, political, and economic assumptions at work in our respective cultures. This year’s forum, titled “Technology and the Future(s) of Education: U.S. and Mexican Perspectives,” will provide new opportunities for interdisciplinary and international collaborations in the area of technology and higher education at the individual and institutional levels.

Twelve representatives from Santa Clara, including faculty, administrators, and trustees, will participate as panelists, program coordinators, and guest speakers:

  • Agnieszka Winkler, SCU trustee and founding sponsor of the forum
  • Howard Charney, SCU trustee and executive vice president at Cisco
  • Dennis Jacobs, provost and vice president for academic affairs
  • Pedro Hernández Ramos, associate professor, Department of Education
  • Diane Jonte-Pace, senior vice provost for academic affairs
  • Christine Bachen, associate professor, Department of Communication
  • Stephen Carroll, senior lecturer, Department of English
  • Terri Griffith, professor and chair, Department of Management
  • Christopher Kitts, associate professor and director, Robotic Systems Laboratory
  • Cheryl McElvain, lecturer, Department of Education
  • Nicholas Tran, associate professor, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science
  • Tim Urdan, professor, Department of Psychology and Department of Liberal Studies
