SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 19, 2003—The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University announced today that its annual “Silicon Valley Venture Capital Summit 2003—The Global Opportunity: Markets, Capital, Partners & Paradoxes” on Oct. 8 will focus on international sources of venture capital for Silicon Valley startups.

The annual meeting of entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders at the University will be from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, in SCU's Mayer Theatre.

Silicon Valley Venture Capital Summit 2003 offers a forum where U.S.-based startups can learn more about how to embrace foreign markets at early stages. The summit features panel discussions on the "Overall Global Challenges for Silicon Valley" and "Challenges for Entrepreneurs Going Global." Speakers include executives from Doll Capital, Investment New Zealand, Ernst & Young, Global Startups, Genentech, Danger, Inc., SkillSoft, Mobius Venture Group, Pacific Enterprise Capital, and A4 Vision.

“The Venture Capital Summit is the premier entrepreneur event to attend in Silicon Valley," said Barry Posner, dean of SCU's Leavey School of Business and co-author of The Leadership Challenge. “We will be arming entrepreneurs with the information they need to put a global business strategy in place and to prepare for the challenges of achieving worldwide success.”

Moderator of this year's event will be Fred Hoar, former chairman of Miller/Shandwick Technologies, and the Dean's Executive Professor of Marketing, Santa Clara University.
