What's New In Patent Law?Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 8, 2010 --- Raymond Chen is the United State’s Deputy General Counsel for Intellectual Property Law and Solicitor for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He will be at Santa Clara University on Tuesday, Feb. 9 to discuss Developments and Initiatives at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
In re Bilski, related to whether certain business processes such as tax preparation or investment techniques can be patented; In re Ariad, related to what information a patent seeker must disclose in their application in order to be entitled to a patent; and In re Wyeth, related to the length of time for which a patent is valid. In his role at USPTO, Chen defends the Under Secretary of Commerce and Director of the USPTO and the agency in federal courts on issues relating to intellectual property. The event, open to the public free of charge, will be held Tuesday, February 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 pm in the Williman Room of Benson Memorial Center.
