SCU in the News
Reza Aslan, Janet Napolitano, Eric Hanson, Luis Rodriquez
Several alumni made major national and state news, and their Santa Clara University education was frequently part of the news. Alumnus Reza Aslan proudly touted his Santa Clara University education in an interview about his book Zealot, on NPR’s Fresh Air. Other stories mentioned Aslan’s SCU education, including the Chicago Tribune, Mediabistro, All In with Chris Hayes on MSNBC, The Atlantic, and the New York Times. Similarly, former Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano’s ties to Santa Clara University were mentioned in more than 500 stories about her selection as president of the UC system. Stories from the Mercury News, KTVU, CBS5 and KQED quoted Eric Hanson (Political Science). Finally, law alumnus Luis Rodriquez becoming the first Latino to head the State Bar of California made news in the San Jose Mercury News (run in seven other papers); San Francisco Business Times, Lake County News, San Francisco Chronicle, and the Los Angeles Daily News.
Here’s a sampling of the hundreds of mentions of SCU in the media in the past two weeks. The first part of the link is a list; the full text is below the list.
