Mick McCarthy, Thomas Cattoi, Sally Vance-Trembath and Elizabeth Drescher

The shocking news that Pope Benedict XVI would resign generated scores of media interviews and articles by Santa Clara faculty. Mick McCarthy (Ignatian Center) discussed the news with every major local TV station:  CBS5; NBC Bay Area; KTVU Fox 2; and ABC7. Thomas Cattoi (JST) appeared in several dozen newspaper, website or TV stories after he was interviewed by the San Jose Mercury News; Bay City News; KLIV radio; KSSB radio; ABC7; Catholic Voice, KTVU-2 and Univision. Sally Vance-Trembath (Religious Studies) was a guest on a KQED Forum program focused on the Pope and was quoted in a page 1 San Francisco Chronicle story about potential successors. Elizabeth Drescher (Religious Studies) wrote an article about the Pope's legacy for Religion Dispatches magazine, which also ran in Democratic Underground.

Here’s a sampling of the hundreds of mentions of SCU in the media in the past two weeks. The first part of the link is a list; the full text is below the list.
