Planning Your Travel

We encourage you to make your travel plans as soon as possible. Students should plan to attend the entire two-day session of Summer Orientation, arriving by 8:00am on day one and departing no earlier than 4:00pm on day two. Early departure may interfere with your ability to register for fall quarter classes. We advise you to not make travel arrangements that require a departure before 6:00pm from any of the Bay Area airports. We understand the challenge in making travel plans. We will provide housing for those students who arrive one day early or need to stay one day later at no additional charge. If you need extended housing, please contact us at least five business days prior to your arrival at orientation@scu.edu and include your name, student ID number, cell phone number, and flight information and/or estimated arrival time. Santa Clara University is located in the Silicon Valley, just minutes from the San Jose Airport and approximately 45 minutes from the San Francisco International Airport and Oakland Airport. Most airlines fly directly to San Jose International Airport. If you do not wish to rent a car, you can take a taxicab to campus ($15-20) or use the Santa Clara Valley Transit Route 10 shuttle (free). Route 10 will take you from the San Jose airport to the Santa Clara Caltrain Station which is located across the street from the main entrance of campus. Shuttles operate every 10 minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes on weekends. For more information, visit http://www.vta.org/schedules/SC_10.html. Public transportation between San Francisco International Airport and the Santa Clara Caltrain Station is also available by taking BART from SFO and transferring to the Caltrain rail system at the Millbrae Station.
