Language Exams
Background and purpose of the examThis exam is used for determining language preparedness and placement at the elementary levels in French or Spanish. Who should take the exam?Students who have previously studied either French or Spanish who would like to determine the current strength of their language skills in order to enroll in the course that most closely matches their ability. Content of the examThe exam tests reading comprehension through multiple-choice questions based on readings of short paragraphs. The exam modifies the difficulty level of the questions based upon the exam takers right or wrong answers. Timing of the examThe exam typically takes from 15 – 30 minutes, depending on how much time is needed for the exam taker to read paragraphs and answer questions. Printing your exam scoreWhen you complete the exam, a screen will show your score and provide a recommended course (see chart below). Please print out this page and bring it to orientation.
