What has been your favorite class at SCU and why?
I had a blast taking a social science class my fall quarter. It was called Social Problems in the United States. The teacher was very relaxed and made learning fun. He was a master at sneaking jokes into his lectures, I don’t believe I went a class without laughing.
What is your favorite activity to do at SCU?
I find myself enjoy a number of activities at SCU. Weather is it going to Blondie’s one dollar scoop days on Monday or playing a full campus capture the flag game. I think the most fun activity I have participated in is probably intramural sports. In the fall I played Volleyball and Flag Football and each were a blast, I got to meet new people, have lots of fun, and figure out that Volleyball may not be my sport…
What advice would you give to the Class of 2013?
To the class of 2013 I have to say try many things, take many different classes, and meet many different people. Hunt opportunity like you were getting paid for it because Santa Clara will only get better as you dig deeper. I would also say engage yourself in something new, which you did not do in High School. Try crew, play intramural sports, take an art class, all these things will allow you to figure out more about who you are. Your freshman year will be an adventure so get the most out of it you can. Also make sure to keep your academics in check, this doesn’t mean you have to get a 4.0 GPA, but keep in check with your classes, do your assignments, and make sure to keep a balance between work and play.
Why do you love SCU?
I heart SCU because it has been a blast for the last year. The people here are all very open to new ideas and accepting of different individuals. There is a diverse group of people in Santa Clara so there is a place for everyone. The great teacher to student has been awesome and has given me valuable chances to further develop my learning experience. The sporting events are great and the bronco spirit is awesome. There are endless activities and things for you to be doing, I don’t think there was a moment of my freshman year that I was bored. I have met friends that I know I will be telling stories worth for the rest of my life and hope be very good friends with in many years.
