What has been your favorite class at SCU and why?
My favorite class thus far at SCU is definitely my Art History class with Kathleen Maxwell. It was a pilot class which carried over two quarters, and although art history does not relate directly to business, I walked away from the course with more knowledge that I will actually remember than I ever expected. It also helped me to expand my ability to critically analyze not only art, but literature as well.
What is your favorite activity to do at SCU?
My favorite activity here at SCU is studying in the sun! Coming from the Seattle area, I definitely did not get a lot of it back home. I love being able to be productive with my school work while also being in an lively and social outdoor environment.
What advice would you give to the Class of 2013?
My advice to the class of 2013 would be to try a little bit of everything in their first couple years. As a business major, I did this and ended up loving art history – something not closely related – and also became heavily involved in the 2009 Solar Decathlon, which is primarily an engineering competition. But whether you know what you want to study or not, there are still courses, activities, events, etc. that can still be of interest to you or even convince you to study something else!
Why do you love SCU?
I love SCU because of all the opportunities it provides for its students. While here, students have the opportunity to excel academically, develop socially, and experience the excitement in the Bay area. After graduating from SCU, students have opportunities, as well, simply because of the school’s reputation and connection with the Silicon Valley.
