What has been your favorite class at SCU and why?
Biology 21 with Professor Rossinni was one of the more rewarding classes I have taken thus far. Although the class was challenging, I walked out of it feeling extremely accomplished and confident in the knowledge I took away from it. The course covered an introduction to physiology, diving into the core of biological processes and concepts. Professor Rossinni was an extremely engaging and passionate teacher who always encouraged us to ask questions until we truly understood the material. The class was both motivating and interesting, which further encouraged my passion for the sciences.

What is your favorite activity to do at SCU?
I love doing anything that involves being outside and enjoying the sunny weather. Lying out in mission gardens, studying outside the library, or just going on a run around campus always puts me in a good mood. The sun just makes everything better!

What advice would you give to the Class of 2013?
The best advice I could give to the incoming class is to not be afraid to put yourself out there as a new student in a new and unfamiliar place. It’s so important to be as open-minded as possible and not to hesitate to jump on any opportunities that come your way. It’s easy to come in as a timid and overwhelmed freshman, however getting involved in campus life and meeting as many people as possible is a great way to break those barriers and establish yourself as you make the transition away from home.

Why do you love SCU?
Among other things, I love the size and community feel of the campus. It’s so nice to walk across campus and see familiar faces wherever I go. At the same time, however, the campus is large enough that I find myself meeting new people everyday. I also love how the professors all make an effort to get to know each and everyone of their students on a personal basis and are truly concerned about their success in the class. The location and weather are also a huge plus, making it easy and accessible to hit the beach for a day in Santa Cruz or hop on the train to San Francisco.
