When the graduate reading program in education was established and the Reading and Learning Center was completed, Father Locatelli and our donor, Ann Bowers (Noyce Foundation), came by to visit. Father Paul was immediately drawn to the book displays and left with a list of recommended books and periodicals to buy for his nieces and nephews. He instinctively essentialized the goal of the reading program by responding with a personal focus on children and literacy. I often begin my classes with this story; thank you, Father Paul!
