A Message from the President
Peter Filice, S.J. - Rest In Peace

3 October 2013

Dear Members of the University Community,

I write with the news that Peter Filice, S.J., died Tuesday, October 1, in Los Gatos, California.  He was 73 years old.  Born in San Jose, California, Peter entered the Society of Jesus at Sacred Heart Novitiate in Los Gatos in 1958.  He was ordained at St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco in 1971, and pronounced final vows at Loyola High School in Los Angeles in 1977.

Peter worked at Santa Clara University from 1993-2004, serving in Campus Ministry and as minister of the Jesuit Community. He was well-known on campus for his pastoral presence and warm heart.  Whether he was leading retreats or conducting bible study for faculty, staff and students, Peter approached life with fullness and a great spirit of generosity.  In thanksgiving for Peter’s life, please join me in praying for him and his eternal peace in the Lord.

Notes of condolence may be sent to Peter’s sister, Louise:
