Dear Members of the Santa Clara University Community,
Our celebration of Thanksgiving offers us the opportunity to recall the blessings in our lives and give thanks for the people who sustain us. As we prepare for the holiday, I wanted to express my gratitude for each of you for the many ways you serve the University and our students. You make up a community committed to providing an education that inspires, transforms, and helps build a better, more just world.
Thanksgiving is also a time to recall the many people of our nation who are in need - people lacking food, shelter, economic security, and family and friends to love and nurture them. The devastation of Hurricane Sandy reminds us of the fragility of our gifts and stirs our compassion to act generously for all who have suffered great loss.
This Thanksgiving, I hope you are graced with the company of loved ones to celebrate in ways fitting to your spiritual tradition. I shall remember you and your families with gratitude in my Mass and prayers on Thanksgiving Day. Have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Michael E. Engh, S.J.
President
