1. How do you define a great application?
Strong Academics + Personality = Impressive. First and foremost, a great applicant will have the necessary academic foundation to succeed at SCU. Then the ability to showcase who you are outside of your duties as a student will set you apart from the rest. Be interesting, engaging, and present your unique qualities you will bring to SCU.
Personal Statement Tip: Do not give me a play-by-play (do not be too narrative). Pick the key facts then add insight and personal perspective to show me why it's IMPORTANT to you. Do not be afraid to ask yourself the question, "Why is this important for Admissions to know?" when proofing your essay.

2. What inspires your work?
The answer to that question is threefold in my mind. My strong belief in the importance and value of continuing one's education inspires me to work in higher education. My passion for Santa Clara University and the amazing opportunities students have here inspire me to work at SCU. My desire to improve access to higher education for all students inspires me to work in Admissions specifically.

3. What do you do in your spare time?
Although I'm a "girly girl" at first glance, I'm a closet geek who's into technology, data mining, video games, social media, and the Web. After work (when I'm not in my MBA courses) I turn into a sports fanatic. You can catch me at a variety of sporting events depending on the season. LET'S GO SHARKS!  GO A'S!  GO NINERS!

4. What is your favorite song?
I have a tie.

"Don't Stop Believing" by Journey
I admit this song has become over-popularized due to the success of GLEE (yes, I too am a GLEEK). However, I have loved this song since I was a kid. It's one of my favorite songs because it's a great classic rock hit with a positive "keep on truckin" message that you can belt out at the top of your lungs in the car, in the shower, at a bar or in your office, and it will be embraced by anyone who overhears you.

"Just Dance" by Lady Gaga
This was a tie with the above aforementioned. This song is great because it's fast paced with a good beat, which can uplift my mood at any time, and inspires impromptu dancing. A little more modern, a little more pop, and a little more sassy, but with the same underlying message. You have to keep on moving, keep on living your life, never giving up.
