Why do you want to serve as an International Ambassador?
I am very passionate about the experiences I had while I was abroad and I would like to share them with potential abroad students. I would also like to help them with their program decision and inform them about the SCU Barcelona program before they fly over seas.
Deciding factor for studying abroad?
Honestly, I did not look into the destination enough and looked more at the price point for the Spain options. I wish I would have researched more about the cities and not based my choice solely on the price differential between the programs.
Defining Moment Abroad?
About three weeks into the program, my friend and I started going to an international church in Barcelona. After getting to know these wonderful people from all over the world, both of our experiences began to shift positively. Our faith grew as we grew as individuals with new friends who genuinely cared about us as people. Witnessing the love and generosity our friends from church extended to us and experiencing the string that bond people of different race and ethnicity together through faith inspired me everyday throughout my study abroad experience. My time abroad would not have been the same without the International Church of Barcelona as an extra support system.
Advice to Prospective study abroad students?
I would definitely recommend students to take a greater interest into the specific city they are choosing to study abroad in. Every city has its own unique characteristics and cities in the same country can be drastically different, so actually take the time to look into each city and each program independently. I would also try to take a better interest in the different class options in each program. The information on the SCU website for program classes is incorrect and I wish I knew that before committing to a program that did not have the right classes for my major.
