Stella Tran

Stella Tran is a junior from San Jose, California, with a major in Accounting Information Systems and minor in Philosophy, Pre-Law emphasis. While she enjoys the business curriculum, she wants to find a connection between her interest in business and social justice. She believes social entrepreneurship is the perfect reconciliation.  She was introduced to social entrepreneurship through her work as the social media intern for the Center for Science, Technology, and Society. At the Center, her projects focus on social media strategy and metrics, design and branding strategy, and has worked closely with social entrepreneurs, specifically in building their investment profiles. Stella has interned with The Ayllu Initiative as the Brand Development Lead, which partnered with the Center to build the Energy Map. The Ayllu Initiative aggregates data on market solutions to poverty, and her work there has been featured on Huffington Post, Good Magazine, Triple Pundit, and Next Billion. After seeing the abundant informal sector in El Salvador and the problems it poses to the formal economy, she has been looking for more ways to learn more about how business can successfully empower communities.  She applied for the fellowship to get more hands on experience in this field.
