Santa Clara 's three interdisciplinary Centers of Distinction are an expression of our Jesuit values, encouraging excellence with consideration for the good of humanity.     The Center for Science, Technology, and Society explores and promotes the use and understanding of science and technology for the common good.  Through research, education, and public events, the Center leverages its unique strength of being at a values-based University in the midst of Silicon Valley by bringing together scholars, industry leaders, and public advocates to collaboratively serve humanity. 

  • iconIgnatian Center for Jesuit Education

    The Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education seeks to preserve and extend the Catholic identity and Jesuit mission of Santa Clara University.  It does this by facilitating a pedagogy of engagement through community-based learning and immersion experiences, encouraging faculty and staff participation in the Jesuit higher educational mission, supporting faculty teaching and scholarship that advances the University's Catholic and Jesuit character, and promoting Ignatian spirituality within an interreligious context.

    The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University is one of the preeminent centers for research and dialogue on ethical issues in critical areas of American life. The Center works with faculty, staff, students, community leaders, and the public to address ethical issues more effectively in teaching, research, and action.
