Inclusive Excellence Blog"Vincent Who?"Friday, Apr. 13, 2012The film "Vincent Who?" by director Curtis Chin captures a moment in U.S. history that forged the pan-Asian American identity and civil rights movement. In 1982, when anti-Japanese sentiment was high because of massive layoffs in the U.S. automotive industry, two white autoworkers crossed paths with Vincent Chin, a Chinese-American man, who was celebrating his bachelor party in a Detroit bar. They berated him for taking their jobs, and after following him outside they beat him to death. The two men were fined $3,000 and didn't serve any time in jail.
