Faculty Study Group Grants

Grants of up to $500 annually provide funding for food, readings, and other expenses for interdisciplinary groups of faculty who wish to gather regularly for discussions of scholarship and/or teaching. Proposals are welcome from both new and continuing groups. Groups should draw faculty from multiple academic departments (discipline-specific series should seek support from their departments). A brief report must be submitted at the end of the academic year indicating how the funds were used and how participation in the group influenced the scholarship or pedagogy of the members. This report can be accompanied by an updated request for further funding if the group plans to continue.

Proposal guidelines:

Proposals are accepted year round and should be emailed to Anne Riconosciuto,  Program Associate for Faculty Development. The proposal should be brief (about a page) and include the following:

  1. Title of group
  2. Convener(s): name, department, and contact information of main faculty organizer(s).
  3. Participants: names and departments of the faculty interested in participating in the group.
  4. Focus and evaluation plans: Describe in a few sentences the focus of the group and how the success of the group will be assessed at the end of the year.
  5. Schedule and expenses: anticipated number of meetings per quarter and plan for using the funds.
