Nov. 20th - Mining MOOCs: What's in it for you and your students?
Wednesday, November 20th
MOOCs have been big news in higher ed for the last couple of years. Are they harbingers of the end times for real education, or, the latest innovation to increase access to higher ed? Among many significant issues, the MOOCs discussion affords us opportunities and contexts to talk about teaching methodology.
Join us as Drew Starbird (Dean, Leavey School of Business and Professor, OMIS) reviews the design and outcomes of his hybrid graduate summer course in statistics. Drew used online content to prepare students for more complex topics covered in a fast-paced classroom environment, and tracked student progress using Udacity's teacher portal.
Can't make it, but you want to read a bit more? Good luck with that. Okay, here are a few suggested links to the avalanche of posts on MOOCs.
RSVP, includes lunch
