  •  April 15 - Good groups: Facilitating In-Class Group Work and Group Assignments

    How do faculty use groups in and out of the classroom?  How do we make group assignments and activities work well for teachers and learners?  Juan Montermoso (Marketing) discusses his "1st day of class" activity to set the tone for the rest of the term. Laura Ellingson (Women's & Gender Studies) provides strategies for out-of-class group assignments.  Matthew Bell (Psychology) provides a structured approach to in-class groups.

  •  March 4 - Visualizing and Presenting Data for Humanities and Social Sciences:

    EVENT DATE: March 4, 2014

    LOCATION: Bannan Engineering 325

    Faculty panelists will introduce and demonstrate practical, easy to use tools for visualizing and presenting data and ideas. These tools include (1) websites such as Gapminder (for global perspectives), FRED (for the US economy), World Development Indicators; (2) open source software such as R that has many scripts for generating graphs; and (3) some Stata routines that make more effective graphs.
