“The New Learning Commons, Technology Center, and Library: Opportunities for Teaching Scholars”
Bannan 137 Co-sponsored by the Library and VITAL (Vitality in Teaching and Learning) Ron Danielson and Brigid Welch will provide a brief overview of the new facility and some of its exciting new features and capabilities. We will then invite questions and in particular input from faculty regarding what resources and technologies they would most like to see in the new building.

Come hear from SCU faculty about their experiences teaching in a range of countries and institutional settings, and learn more about opportunities to teach abroad via Fulbright fellowships and other programs.

“Academic Integrity and ‘The Cheating Culture’: A Conversation with David Callahan”
Wiegand Room Co-sponsored by the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics and the Office of Student Life Noted scholar and author David Callahan will lead a faculty discussion of the cultural context of cheating in academia and what might be done about it, as part of a day-long campus visit. Participating faculty are encouraged to read his book, The Cheating Culture, in advance of the event: obtain a free copy by contacting David DeCosse in the Ethics Center or Bill Sundstrom in Faculty Development no later than Friday, January 18th.

“Making the Most of Undergraduate Research Assistants”
Wiegand Room SCU faculty from a wide range of disciplines have been assisted by or collaborated with undergraduate students in their scholarship. A panel of faculty, from engineering to the arts, will speak about how they have worked with undergraduate research assistants, how both students and faculty can get the most out of the RA relationship, and common pitfalls to avoid.
