Tenure Clock Extension

Aware that family responsibilities can significantly impinge on the time and energy faculty have to devote to their professional responsibilities, the University has developed a tenure clock extension policy for tenure-track faculty. This policy provides an automatic extension for faculty who experience the birth or adoption of a child or the death of the faculty member’s spouse, registered domestic partner, or child. In addition, a one-year extension of the probationary period may be granted for other circumstances that significantly impede progress toward tenure.
