Terry E. Shoup serves as the Interim Vice Provost for Enrollment Management at Santa Clara. In this position, he supervises the Undergraduate Admission Office and the Financial Aid Office.

Dr. Shoup is Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University, where he began working in 1989. He also has served as Dean of the School of Engineering and Interim Dean of the School of Education, Counseling Psychology and Pastoral Ministries. He recently completed a term as the Elected President of the American Society of the Mechanical Engineers and is a Fellow of the ASME.

Dr. Shoup is the author or co-author of more than 100 technical publications in the field of machine design. His recent R&D activities have focused on the use of spreadsheet modules to augment the design process in the analysis and synthesis of machine elements. This work was the basis for the 8th Edition of the book "Design of Machine Elements" with M. F. Spotts and L. E. Hornberger (Prentice Hall 2004).

Dr. Shoup received a bachelor's and a master's degree in mechanical engineering, as well as a Ph.D., from Ohio State University. He also holds a M.S. in Pastoral Ministries from Santa Clara University. Dr. Shoup has served on the faculties of Rutgers University, the University of Houston, Texas A&M University, and Florida Atlantic University.
