Jonathan Fortescue has been recognized as a U.S. Presidential Scholar, one of 141 high school seniors in the United States to be acknowledged for their accomplishments in academics or the arts. The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, appointed by President Obama, selected the 49th Class of Presidential Scholars based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals. Jonathan received his Presidential Scholar Medallion on June 16, 2013 in Washington, D.C. Jonathan has also been honored as an AP Scholar with Distinction. As founder and secretary of the STEM Club at his high school, Jonathan was actively engaged in science outreach and education of his peers. As the president of the National Honor Society, Jonathan was responsible for rewriting the bylaws for his chapter. Jonathan is also a dramatist and musician who has won Best Male Actor and Most Outstanding Orchestra Member awards for his commitment and talent. As a sophomore, Jonathan founded an Android app company (Alamoware) and continues to work on the development and marketing of a variety of applications.
