How much should we worry about being tracked online? Eric Goldman, director of the High Tech Law Institute at SCU, argues that tracking is one step in a multi-step process that may lead to something bad, but that in and of itself, there is no significant harm in tracking. The debate, he argued in a discussion with the Center's Emerging Issues Group, should focus on how the data is used. Goldman, associate professor of law at SCU, is the author of a popular blog on Technology and Marketing Law.
