Sad News about Father Coz

We are sad to announce that beloved Santa Clara professor, Father Richard Coz passed away on Friday, December 31 at 8:53 a.m.. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Mission Church with a reception to follow. More details in regards to the reception to come.

Dr. Tom Lohwasser said on Jan 1, 2011: We have lost a true friend. He was the on-going connection for many Alum, including ruggers, students and world travelers. He met my son at a football retreat last year and told my son many stories (including some I rather not have my kid know) but he was really a special man. It was an honor and privilege to know him. Somehow he did that for countless Santa Clara Alumni. My family will miss him dearly and we feel fortunate and blessed that he was part of our life. Class of 1979
Mike Scurich said on Jan 3, 2011: Fr.Coz married my wife and I and baptized our three children. The same as he's done for so many others. I was fortunate enough to visit with him twice this past year and his spirit and sense of humor were always in tact. Sharp until the end. He was truly the best and I'll miss him. Class of 1984
Alfred Coz Garcia said on Jan 23, 2011: I have just recently been made aware of Fr. Coz and was thrilled to know he made the time to correspond to my cousin about possibly being related to my Great-Great Grandfather Coz. Since more research has to been done to verify the relationship what information he did provide is very promising and seems to parallel our family life. May God rest his soul and give thanks he gave us this information.
