SCU's Center of Performing Arts announces 2004-2005 season

Santa Clara, Calif.—Sept. 16, 2004 – Santa Clara University’s Center of Performing Arts opens its 2004-2005 season with a diverse array of dance, music, and theater productions. 

Opening on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004 with a free “Meet the Musicians” concert, the new season showcases the talent and artistry of SCU’s student and faculty performers, directors, choreographers, and crew. 

Highlights of this year’s season include: a fully-staged production of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” which will be presented in English.  Also the SCU orchestra will perform an innovative concert of music from classic cartoons and movies, and the theatre and dance department will collaborate with the SCU School of Law and the Bannan Center for Jesuit Education to present Tim Robbins’ “Dead Man Walking.”

“The 2004-2005 season promises to provide the University and local communities with entertainingly compelling journeys into the world of performance,” said Michael Zampelli, S.J., director of  the Center of Performing Arts. “Students, faculty and staff will labor mightily to share their creative spirits through dance, music, and theater,” Zampelli added.

This year also boasts a new music subscription featuring three music performances and the faculty recital of the subscriber’s choice.  Music subscription prices range $27-$33.  The Center of Performing Arts traditional theater subscription will also be offered, with prices ranging $25-$35.  Single tickets range $5-$14.  Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.
