Santa Clara University Named One of the Best Places to Work in the Bay AreaWednesday, May. 13, 2009Santa Clara, Calif., May 12, 2009 -- Santa Clara University was selected as one of the best places to work in the Bay Area by the university's faculty and staff. According to a joint survey conducted by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal, Santa Clara University ranked No. 5 in the "large employers" category, including those with 501 to 1,500 employees. Santa Clarais the only higher education institution in the top 10. "Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to creating a work environment that welcomes, encourages, and supports all members of our Santa Clara family," said SCU President Michael Engh, S.J. About the survey: Companies were categorized based on the size of their Bay Area workforce: Largest employers (1501 + employees), large employers (501-1500), mid-sized employers (101-500), small employers (51-100), small employers (25-50). The ranking is based solely on the satisfaction of each company's employees. The electronic survey for "Best Places to Work in the Bay Area 2008" went directly to 156,245 Bay Area employees, asking them to evaluate their satisfaction with their workplace. Employees were asked 37 multiple choice questions about management practices and policies, satisfaction with benefit offerings, and how happy they were with the work climate and culture.
