Santa Clara University Again Ranked by Kiplinger's Magazine as One of the Country's Best Values Among Private UniversitiesMonday, Nov. 30, 2009Santa Clara, Calif., Nov. 30 2009 -- Santa Clara University is listed as one of the country's best values in private universities, according to the latest ranking by Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine. In its annual report, the magazine named Santa Clara University 43rd in best value among private universities nationwide based on academic quality, cost, financial aid and other factors. Featured in the December issue of Kiplinger’s, the annual survey, "2010 Best Values in Private Colleges," ranks the top 50 private universities and the top 50 liberal arts colleges from among more than 600 private institutions. Academic quality – including factors like admission, retention and graduation rates – is weighed, along with affordability factors such as tuition costs, financial aid and average student debt. Ranked first in 2010 among private universities is the California Institute of Technology, followed by Princeton, Yale, Rice, Harvard, and Duke. Santa Clara is one of six Jesuit schools named to the annual list, along with Boston College, Creighton, Georgetown, Gonzaga, and College of the Holy Cross. "Santa Clara University has worked hard to keep affordability, financial aid and high student retention as top priorities despite the economic challenges of the past two years," said Michael Sexton, vice president for enrollment management at Santa Clara University.
