Google Analytics and Web Privacy Statement

Wednesday, May. 17, 2006

We are testing a new service, Google Analytics, on the SCU home page and several pages at the top-tier of the SCU site.  The Google Analytics system collects user data, including the network location of the client, browser and system settings, and transfers this information to Google.com servers.  We have included a link to a Privacy Statement on the SCU home page that describes how Google protects the information they collect.

The Google Analytics reports are accessible to SCU system administrators through a Web-based console, and may be a useful resource for evaluating activity on the SCU site - we've only been testing the system for a few days, and so there's not much to evaluate so far.  But the information collected would help to supplement the reporting from our Web server access logs, as it includes some data that we're not already collecting.
